- Miller Ferry is the only Ferry to Middle Bass Island from the Mainland (Catawba Island/Port Clinton). Passengers do not need reservations, but vehicles do. - Walk to Villa: If you are walking, you may want to bring a rolling bag/suitcase or wagon to transport your stuff (an umbrella or rain jacket too – in case of rain). Our Villa (37) is in St. Hazrds resort. It is .82 miles from Miller Ferry, about a 20 minute walk. You can either walk along Fox Road (30 min walk) or cut through Lonz winery and walk next to the Marina docks until you get to the woods and then continue your walk on Fox Rd. St. Hazards resort will be on your right. Once you turn into the resort, follow the road and go past the restaurant, tiki bar, pool area and Villa 37 is just down the road on the right. There is another way to shorten your walk, its a short cut through the woods after you pass the Marina docks, but it’s hard to find. If you do find this path, you will end up at the RV Park. You will need to turn right, follow the road that veers left and turn right at Hazards restaurant/pool area. Villa 37 will on the right, about a minute down the road. When we use the short cut and walk quickly, it takes us 15 minutes.
- What should you bring? Our Villa is furnished with linens, towels (8 bath, 8 hand, 8 washcloths & dishtowels), condiments, toilet paper, paper plates, coffee, creamer, sugar, a gallon of drinking water and a few other necessities. St. Hazards has well water and you can drink it, but we would recommend you bring bottled water or buy it at the General Store. You will need to bring your own beach towels. Hazards pool doesn’t provide towels. We have a full kitchen with all kitchen basics and an outside propane grill if you would like to bring your own food to cook. You should bring sunscreen and bug spray. Mosquitoes are sometimes bad on the island. We have some tiki torches on the deck with citronella torch oil. There’s extra oil and Off under the kitchen sink, but you may need more Off if it’s a bad bug night. If there are any necessities that you use a lot of, you may want to bring some of those things with you.
- May flies/Wasps/Mosquitoes: During a May fly hatch, you will need to keep the lights turned down, off, with the curtains closed. May flies can’t bite you – they’re gross and usually hatch later in June and early July. They swarm to the light and there could be piles of them around any outside lights left on. Wasps are sometimes an issue. I check for nests around the Villa and kill them almost every week. They can quickly make a nest, so please be careful. There’s wasp killer under the kitchen sink if you need any.
- Water Taxis’ to Put-in-Bay: There are two water taxi’s to Put-in-Bay. There’s the SonnyS that operates starting Memorial Day weekend and ends Labor Day weekend. You can find their schedule here: https://middlebassferry.net/schedule.php The other water taxi is owned by a local boat owner, Marty Harayda 419-656-1226. He requires a reservation and charges $10 oneway. He is a reliable way to get back and forth to Put-in-Bay, especially when the SonnyS isn’t running yet or when they scale back their number of trips.

- Place all used towels, washcloths & hand towels in the bathtub
- Do not make any used beds. You can leave them unmade or place all sheets, pillow cases and quilts at the end of the beds
- Do all dishes and put them away
- Wipe down counter tops and tables
- Put down deck umbrellas and put a bungee around them to secure them
- Dispose of trash in the du

- Lock shed
- Close/lock windows and close shades, including the small upper windows
- Turn off all fans inside Villa to include the loft fan
- Turn off air and all lights & close curtains
- Lock doors and place key in lock
- Put stick in sliding door and make sure it is secure
- Lock the door with the key before putting it into the lock box
